Today it is important that we build resources to assure the sustainability of Assistance Dogs of the West and the invaluable community service successfully provided. Establishing a planned gift today will enable Assistance Dogs of the West to provide and increase educational and vocational services and assistance dog placements to our clients. ADW can also accept gifts of real estate, fine art, automobiles and other personal assets.

Planned Giving, the ADW Legacy Society

A deferred or planned gift is a wonderful way to ensure on-going support of Assistance Dogs of the West and meet your personal financial objectives. Planning ahead can generate important tax benefits for you. Some donors have included a bequest in their will or designated ADW as beneficiary of a trust, ensuring that their lifelong support of Assistance Dogs of the West continues.

Planned giving includes:  Will or Living Trusts, Life Income gifts, Life Insurance, Retirement Plans, Retained Life Real Estate, Charitable Lead Trusts and Grantor Charitable Lead Trusts, etc.

To leave a bequest in your will to ADW,  here is some very simple language you can use.

“I, (Name) of (City, State, Zip) give to Assistance Dogs of the West, City of Santa Fe, County of Santa Fe, State of New Mexico, (Written $ Amount, or % Percentage of My Estate, and/or Description of the Property) for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

Stocks and Securities

Making a gift of securities helps Assistance Dogs of the West and provides tax savings to most donors. Securities are also often eligible for corporations’ matching gifts programs.  Gifts of securities may be delivered to ADW via electronic transfer (DTC), a broker, mail or in person.

Avoid paying federal capital gains tax on appreciated stock held more than one year by donating the stock directly from your account to the Assistance Dogs of the West account.  Transferring stock directly from your account to ADW is the fastest and easiest way to donate.

ADW Endowment Fund

2007 ADW Endowment was opened at Santa Fe Community Foundation.  The SFCF manages the ADW endowment along with millions of Community Foundation dollars to reap the best financial rewards.
